Invention Creates - Innovation Solves | moladi

Hennie Botes invented moladi to solve the delivery of affordable housing back in 1986. To produce a brick in a mould, transport it to site, stick them together with mortar, chop the wall for water and electrical pipes, then plaster the wall to hide the imperfections and defects was simply not plausible to address delivery of homes at an affordable price.

After close on 30 years of continuous inventing and innovating, moladi has emerged as a global leader in "producing" homes. Very similar in the way that Henry Ford streamlined the production assembly line of the Model T. The only fundamental difference is that moladi allows for "assembly" to take place on site or in-situ. Once the reusable lightweight plastic formwork is erected in four hours, the mould is filled with a sand cement mixture (mortar) in two hours. The following morning after the mortar has set, the formwork is removed and reused on an adjoining foundation that has been cast a few days prior.

This production process eliminates the skills required to build masonry walls and greatly speeds up the process of "producing" the reinforced monolithic superstructure. Since the production time is known, the advantages created by the "invention" allows for "innovation" to enhance the production process through JIT and a form of Kanban to control the logistical supply chain from a production point of view. The use of our moladiApp innovates the way that we deliver and monitor inventory production and stock holding. This process is called SixSigma

Six Sigma seeks to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects (errors) and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. It uses a set of quality management methods, mainly empirical, statistical methods, and creates a special infrastructure of people within the organization ("Champions", "Black Belts", "Green Belts", "Yellow Belts", etc.) who are experts in these methods. Each Six Sigma project carried out within an organization follows a defined sequence of steps and has quantified value targets, for example: reduce process cycle time, reduce pollution, reduce costs, increase customer satisfaction, and increase profits.

All of the above allows for "invention" and "innovation" to create a new process or method to produce "affordable homes affordable". And in so doing creating much needed jobs for the unskilled and unemployed.
